Personnel

Jeffrey P. Norenberg, Pharm.D.

Director, Keck-UNM Small-Animal Imaging Resource (KUSAIR)

Dr. Noreneberg is a Professor of Pharmacy, and a member of the UNM Cancer Center, Cancer Biology Program, and serves as Director of the Keck-UNM Small-Animal Imaging Resource (KUSAIR), a component of the Animal Models and Imaging Shared Resource. He has over 20 years of experience in pre-clinical and clinical research in the discovery and development of radiopharmaceuticals for molecular imaging and therapy. He also serves as the Director of the Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Program within the College of Pharmacy, and the Associate Director of the New Mexico Center for Isotopes in Medicine. Dr. Norenberg is a radiopharmaceutical scientist with board certification in nuclear pharmacy and expertise in radiochemistry, drug discovery, and drug development. The focus of his work is translational research in molecular targeted radionuclide delivery for imaging and therapy. Specifically, his research involves peptide:receptor-targeted radionuclide therapy using High-Linear Energy Transfer a/b particles emitted during the radioactive decay of lanthanides and actinides. He has also developed novel imaging agents for lymphoma and leukemia, inflammation, and immune cell trafficking. Dr. Norenberg advises and/or collaborates with interested investigators on the design, execution, and data analysis of experiments involving state-of-the-art PET/SPECT/CT radiopharmaceutical imaging in small animals.

Monique Nysus

Manager KUSAIR Imaging

Ms. Nysus has recently joined our imaging group. She has 15 years of experience with animal research including 13 years at Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute and 2 years at the University of New Mexico. She is very experienced in animal protocol development.

Tamara Anderson, BS,

Radiopharmaceutical Laboratory Manager.

Ms. Anderson is a chemical engineer. She works with Dr. Norenberg in the small-animal imaging facility overseeing the imaging calendaring and associated activities including the development of animal models (tissue culture, tumor inoculation, cell binding, etc), preparation of radiopharmaceuticals, quality control, diagnostic application and therapeutic interventions, as well as the compiling of results.
